    ♫ USHER - CLIM▲X (WIK▲N RmX)

    USHER - CLIM▲X (WIK▲N RmX)

WIK▲N’s remix made me stop everything I was doing. Retaining much of the aphotic elements of the original, the remix focuses on a more atramentous acceptance of a finale. It is a little more devastated and sorrowful as the initial “climax” of the song builds to a booming, muted culmination. Basslines hammer away as doleful swan song comes to a close. It is everything I like in a remix - a reworking - a favorable enhancement of potential.

    Her by Jam City

Since details first surfaced earlier this year, Jam City’s debut album, Classical Curves, has been anticipated greatly by many. Despite its rather short length, ‘Her’ is one of the album’s most frenzied moments. Drum machines and metallic crashes pummel relentlessly from the start, before briefly opening up to a keyboard flourish, then duly returning to their original state afterwards. Only near the end do we get some space, as not-quite-human choirs and soft strings blanket us, with the rhythm section unsurprisingly building to full speed until the track abruptly ends. It may be one of the album’s shorter tracks but still a definite standout. Enjoy.

    Nightlif by XI

XI was based in Toronto for a period, but originally seems to be from the UK, and now lives in Berlin. Confusions aside, the producer has captured our imagination with his rather unique take on Bass Music, which brings together a range of influences. ‘Nightlif’ is considerably more upbeat in comparison to his other releases, with a bubbling vibe well suited to summer, and packed floors. It’s available for pre-order here now.

    L.A Pool Party by Applebottom

Joe Arthur (aka Applebottom) has delivered yet another soulful House jam. The 17 year old Bristol native is seemingly incapable of putting a foot wrong with his productions - thus we’re expecting it’s only a matter of time before Arthur sees more widespread fame. Get to know.

Freedom 2K (Malvoeaux Remix) by LA Vampires x Octa Octa

The collaboration between 100% Silk head honcho Amanda Brown (aka LA Vampires) and Octo Octa, entitled Freedom 2K, came out today and is as stellar as the remainder of the 100% Silk discography. While the original is an euphoric excursion into rhythm stretched over six minutes, Malvoeaux gives the track a rather frosty twist, pulling off something not unlike BNJMN’s productions. However, despite the more restrained composure of the remix, it still retains much of the original’s euphoria.

    Social Network Clock

Time-based visualization of social network activity based on bitly data, by retronator:

Today’s random idea to create a webpage: the Social Network Clock!

A few weeks back bitly posted some interesting data that hints when people use different social networks. Today’s stupid idea for not playing Minecraft all day involved creating a CSS3 time display webpage that overlays current time over the graphs published by bitly.

Tumblr is apparently the party network for evenings and weekends so cheers to you guys!
