    New York - The Weekend

    22 May 2012
    New York, NY

    Hello all,

My trip to NYC thus far has been amazing—but busy! It is incredible to me how supportive people are of the work we’re doing at Young British Designers, even when they haven’t heard of us.

It feels like I’ve walked the entirety of Manhattan. In four short days, I’ve visited four museums, spent way too much time shopping, attended three parties, lost one MASC belt (thanks to Ted), and learned quickly why it’s foolish to wear heels a whole day as a NYC tourist. Love my blue Sophie Gittins heels from her SS2012 collection, but, oh, how my feet hurt on Friday night when I got back to my hotel!

On Friday, at the recommendation of my PR friend Rachel Meis from L.A. (who I hope to visit later), I had a cheese popover at David Burkes at Bloomingdales. Strange to have a taste of Britain in NYC but good, nonetheless!

Saturday, Ted and I spent hours walking around Manhattan and got to catch up with some amazing NYC fashion friends. It is a good thing that I wore my Lama Peach Paige boots during the day, as I wouldn’t have survived in heels!

In the late morning, we checked out the Taste of Tribeca, then met up with Sarah Conley of StyleIt in the afternoon for a bit of shopping in Union Square.  Ted and Sarah’s beautiful rescue Lola Belle had a grand time hanging out while she and I chatted fashion. While shopping, we also visited Space NK’s flagship in SoHo. which is, as Sarah commented, “beauty heaven!”

In the evening, quickly changed and headed to a friend’s birthday party for another busy night. As I got lots of compliments on my Borne by Elise Berger dress, I guess I was spreading the word about YBD without being on duty.

Sunday was happily a more restful day. Ted and I met up for brunch at Cookshop with Brittany Haas of Happily Ever BorroWED. As I am heading to a wedding in DC next weekend, this was quite convenient. After brunch, we all headed to Chelsea Market for yummy foodie things and bridal chat.

Reality returned Monday morning as I had to wake early for a crazy day of meetings. Ted, of course, was completely unphased by my busy dressing in the morning, though seemed to think he was helping by sitting on my freshly-ironed Studio Nicholson Pilotta shirt.

I have three more full days of meetings in NYC before heading to DC on Friday. Wish me luck!

    From NYC with Love,

    Fizz xoxo
