If the holy, almighty, infinite, sovereign, personal, omnipresent, omnipotent God can forgive you of your sins (which He has), then you sure as heck can learn to forgive yourself! Just look to the cross and remember that every one of your sins that you committed was laid upon Christ at that moment. God remembers it no more. You are His, and with that comes acceptance not based on what you did, but rather, on what Jesus did on your behalf.
That being said, the role of a husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. All that I said above is how Christ loves us. He loves us not because of us, but in spite of us, in spite of all our failures, faults, screw ups, and sins. That is how a husband should be, if he is a man of God. His job is to love you unconditionally. Because, when we remember that God loves us in spite of us, it makes it a whole lot easier to love others in spite of them.
A woman’s past is nothing to me. All that I care about is if she loves Christ, if she has a passion for God’s glory, and she wants to glorify God through our relationships. Would I like a girl who is a virgin? Sure. Is being a virgin on my list of prerequisites? Absolutely not. Don’t ever let your past define you. You are now defined by Christ, and Christ alone.
If you’re an Atheist or non-Christian… ok. Whatever. I disagree with you, but you’re entitled to your own beliefs. But, what the hell is this? Christianity doesn’t inherently attack other belief systems nor have I ever done such things, so why do people do so to me? And in such a condescending, ignorant, and mindless manner as well. It’s just so frustrating.
Regarding my post on masturbation, not once did I ever make the claim that everyone without except should follow that or that it applies to everyone. I was speaking as a Christian, from a Christian worldview, to other Christians. I wish that were more clear. My main goal isn’t for anyone to stop masturbating. It’s for them to love Jesus.
Sorry if my tone is a little angry or upset, but I just wanted to be frank with you all. Please hear the sincerity in this post. Feel free to disagree with me. But, all I ask is that you do so in an intelligent, respectable manner.
Thank you,
Blake
I work in an Officer’s bar, on an army accommodation site and generally nobody ever comes in so I just read.
Tonight I was revising ontology, deontology and theories of life after death when two naval submarine engineers walked in and took an interest.
They wanted a debate and they got one. We covered just about every topic, the feasibility of God, reasons for belief, creation, evil, the devil, morality, politics, epistemology, history.
We talked for 5 hours and I kept the bar open an hour extra, it was very intense yet amiable and though I didn’t get them to concede of their points ultimately, they did actually admit defeat.
I thought they did well, but they were surprised that anybody who had a worldview like mine could actually defend it and attack theirs.
I just pray that it makes them think honestly.
For what can be known about God has been made plain to them for God has shown them. For His invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made, so they are without excuse. For although they knew God they did not honour Him as God or give thanks to Him.
…
Actually this is pretty funny, one it seems like a rehash of the Ad Populum fallacy. Second he forgets to mention that not all those copies are the same, part of them show that pesky little fact christians waste so much time bullshiting around, that not all copies say the same thing, or in other words, they show the editing done by humans, on their own fictional work. Turns out it was pretty normal at the time for the next generation edit the previous generation works, by embellishing it.
We don’t even know who were the authors of the books of the new testament. But we know due to textual references and style, that the authorship of at least most of them, was forged. It’s obvious that most of the books attributed to Peter were not written by the same person. If we get into the gospels, well… then we have buck loads of fun. Also interesting that the further back you go in time, the less real and more mythical the character of named Jesus becomes. To a point were he becomes entirely part of fantasy. Most christians don’t have a clue what their ancient counterparts believed. Modern christianity was only born after the 4th century.
Not to mention that the author of Matthew seems to only have had access to the Septuagint (the Greek translation of the Torah), most likely because he couldn’t read Aramaic. We know this because he left marks of the mistranslation of the Septuagint. Read Matthew 21:7, where Jesus supposedly entered Jerusalem in two donkeys. It’s also very interesting for me that right under the New Testament in the table is Homer’s Iliad. A book that the author of Mark heavily inspired his work of fiction on.
Ejaculated conjecture bereft of substance.
Yea, he’s my advisor.

“Only he is an orthodox teacher who not only presents all articles of faith in accordance with Scripture, but also rightly distinguishes from each other the Law and Gospel.” -Walther
The law is good, glorious, true, perfect, knowable, holy (Isaiah 42:21, Psalm 19:7-9). We are to follow it because the law is a reflection of God. There is nothing wrong with the law. On the contrary, the law shows what is wrong with us because we violated the holiness of God.
Why the law? Galatians 3:19 asks. Paul answers this a few verses later in Galatians 3:23-25.
”To develop a great expectation and necessity for the Redeemer. To develop a great expectation and necessity for the Redeemer by revealing human sinfulness to the degree that it would create the desperation in men that drives them to the Savior.” - John MacArthur
The law does not and cannot generate what it commands. Jesus intensifies the Old Testament law. He sharpens the spear of the law so that it plunges deeper into our hearts and drives us to repentance and faith in Him.
Be pefect as your heavenly Father is perfect- Matthew 5:48
We are condemned without excuse, recourse, or any way out (law). The law is to love God and love your neighbor (Luke 10:27). We cannot worship God perfectly and be perfect. But, there is good news- the Gospel. The law condemns us and drives us to Jesus, who becomes our righteousness. We are saved through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8). Our realization of our inability to fulfill the law opens our eyes to our need for Jesus.
“If you cheat on law, you cheat on gospel.” - Justin Holcomb
We must have a high law and a high gospel.
