Okay so these are the basic ingredients required to make nasi lemak(a.k.a coconut rice or “fat rice” in literal translation. XD) You’ll need rice, coconut milk, screwpine leaves, water,lemon grass, salt to taste,ginger,fenugreeks and about half to quarter yellow or red onion.

This is how it looks like when coconut milk has been added.

Now onto the most crucial part of the process. While waiting for your rice to cook, You must eat some sweet, juicy pineapples. No other fruits allowed. You have got to trust me on this, or else you’ll jinx everything and all your hard work will go to waste. ;( Remember sweet, juicy pineapples.

The end product of our dish. See the rice? Fluffy much? That’s the work of the pineapple doing :}.
Normally this dish will be served with peanuts, hardboiled egg, chill cucumber, stir fried water spinach, sambal(what do you call sambal in English? er chilli paste? chilli sauce? chilli gravy? Ergh I really don’t know, google it yourself.) and fried anchovies but because I favour tempeh over peanuts, I ditched peanuts for fried tempeh and since I do not have water spinach, I omit that too.
I’ll teach you how to make the sambal next time because right now I’m too lazy to run you through all the ingredients and process. :}
