The biggest problem these two ideologies (for lack of a better word) have with each other is created by the harassment perpetuated by the members of Men’s Rights Activism. MRAs claim feminists have not a care for them, and feminists say that MRAs are not actually trying to fight for men’s rights. Neither of them are wrong.

MRAs spend a lot of time attacking women and feminism, blaming them for such things as disposable men, circumcision and marginalization of men with mental illnesses. Feminists have grown tired of being constantly harassed by MRAs, and so laugh at or ignore anything that has been given the label of Men’s Rights Activism. 

Many feminists I know agree that mental illness must be addressed with sympathy, and that circumcision is an outdated tradition that does more harm than people think. They are not opposed to men’s rights; they are opposed to sweeping feminism under the rug in favor of helping men.

Women are still quite far from achieving full equality in any part of the world, and so feminism still works for those rights for women. It is not that they do not care about problems affecting men, but that they are focused on dismantling the patriarchy. Getting rid of audism is no less worthy a cause than erasing classism, no? We cannot say either feminism or men’s rights activism are less or more important than the other, but we can leave the people involved to focus on what they are passionate about without attacking them.

tldr; MRAs, work on fixing the issues that affect men instead of blaming or harassing feminists.

And feminists, continue fighting for what you want, and don’t get caught up in arguments with misguided MRAs.
