notesonascandal reblogged obamafamily:“You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

may 5, 2010: g-chat with marni
- riese: my ultimate goal
- is to make autostraddle really awesome
- like and change the world etc
- Marni: right
- riese: and then in 10 years get like a billion dollars for it
- and build a self-sustaining community
- that is a summer camp for weirdo girls
- and during the year it's like a kibbutz
- and we can make art and like, grow food, and build shit
- and in the summertime girls come and we have a full summer camp, but we all pitch in, to like keeping it running
- and they learn like leadership skills and how to be happy and ok with themselves, and we do writing workshops and go into the local communities and fix fucked up shit
- I AM CRAZY
- marni: that sounds way far from crazy
- me: my whole dad's side of the family were farmers
- marni: i told you about my self-sustaining non-profit girls leadership skillbuilding thingo? also my love of camp?
- not crazy.
- me: no
- marni: anyway yes. so first step is change the world. then the 1 billion.
