no. the wall in Palestine is an apartheid wall. it snakes through the West Bank allowing for the addition of ILLEGAL settlements, splits Palestinian villages in half (like Beit Hanina, some of my best friends’ village), and cuts Palestinians off from resources such as water and electricity.
regarding the bombs you had to hear about every day, that pales in comparison to the violence inherent in military occupation. i always hear israeli’s talk about their fear of arabs and their feelings about using the word apartheid, or the sounds of bombs going off near their houses. wow. what about the Palestinians— often minors— who get arrested in the middle of the night and taken into administrative detention without explanation? what about the humiliation of daily checkpoints? what about Palestinians brutalized by the IDF for protesting peacefully? what about the 1400 Palestinians in Gaza massacred in 2008 during Operation Cast Lead?
in a colonial context, violence is justified. the israeli occupation of Palestine is a colonial project. therefore, while i don’t personally propose suicide bombing or think that it’s a particularly effective tactic, it’s completely justified and as someone who’s not Palestinian i have to right to condemn it. if you’re having trouble grasping this concept read The Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon, and maybe Malcom X’s autobiography.
furthermore if you want to talk about terrorism, learn the truth about Ben Gurion, Yigael Yadin, and all the “heroes of Israeli independence”, and terrorist groups like the Stern Gang. (assuming you’re a citizen of Israel) you should know that “your” country was founded on terrorism and ethnic cleansing. Read The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe if you don’t believe me.
and finally, as a white American i have to acknowledge that i am living on ethnically cleansed land and benefitting from the genocide of indigenous people of the Americas every day. honestly i don’t think i could argue against political violence committed by Native Americans either, I don’t think I would I argue against political violence committed by black americans in light of the trans atlantic slave trade, centuries of slavery, and the relegation of black people to an internal colony.
in summation, if you don’t want to deal with violent resistance don’t live on occupied Palestinian land.

My owl pot was born today… I decided to experiment and do a soda firing.. Unfortunately the atmospheric effect wasn’t in my favor so the contrast between the owl and the vessel isn’t strong enough. I might be able to fix it by firing it again with some heavier reduction to make the clay darker and possibly some stain.
But right now I’m a little unhappy. Maybe it will grow on me. The last picture is pretty much the true color. Kind of a warm beige.
I even tried to take it outside to see if it looked better in natural light.. didn’t work either. haha
None of this really matters BECAUSE! I made another whole owl carving pot. Yay for multiples!
