My dad is the most hypocritical person I know. I can’t talk to him about anything without him interrupting me, or telling me that I’m trying to demean him whenever I tell him something I know to be fact.

Out of curiosity, I brought up the topic of legalizing marijuana to him because I wanted to know what his stance on it was, and after stating that he wouldn’t support something that makes people dumbasses, I compared marijuana to alcohol and said that alcohol is makes people look just as much of dumbasses as marijuana, and that 40% of emergency room admissions are alcohol related, and a few other random (rumored) facts about alcohol, yet he kept saying that marijuana was much worse otherwise it would be legal and alcohol wouldn’t be if it were the other way around. Keep in mind, my dad only attended school for one year. He immediately told me that I was rude for trying to seem like I was better than him, and that I was condescending, and that I should acknowledge when I’m not right. Yeah, except he was the rude one, he was the condescending one, and he was also wrong in a few points he had made throughout the “talk”.

I’m just frustrated, and I really wish he would put down his pride for a second and learn something from me, instead of talking to me about other intelligent people my age from whom he’s learned a lot.
