Lol well just idk!

My parents are progressive agnostics so they never raised me to think something in particular. They didn’t purposefully avoid Christian influences in my life, but also they never pushed it and encouraged critical thinking so tbh I think I’m just the product of someone raised without anything in particular in mind. Obviously my personal views on the matter affect it though, because I’m more radical than my parents. They’re just hey whatever there might be something there might not we’re not going to concern ourselves with it. My grandparents ARE catholic though and mum went to a catholic high and they’ve taken me to church once but it was shit.

So yeah really I just stem my atheism mainly from seeing religion’s effect on the world. My biggest issue is with institutionalised religion, the Catholic Church and states with Sharia law and the like. I think they push bad values and are detriments to society.

Then, further, I think it is foolish to believe in something which cannot be scientifically proven and is - at its deepest core - just an imaginary thing. Someone must have imagined this god character at one point and that’s just about all it is. And without proof I’m not going to change my mind. In the scientific world we live in where so much of our lives rely on technology I just wish scientists had the same respect that men (almost always men, another point) of religion do.

And yeah that’s about it. I just don’t think it’s logical to whole-heartedly believe in something without proof even though it could exist which would make me agnostic but the reason I’m atheist is because I actually believe the manifestation of religion on Earth is a detriment to our collective society.
