Jenna Fischer (Pam), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), and Ellie Kemper (Erin) are all from St. Louis, Missouri. Ellie Kemper’s grandparents founded the “Kemper Arena” in Kansas City, MO which is, coincidentally, where I reside.
Steve Carell wrote the episode Casino Night, and it is regarded by fans alike as The Office’s best episode.
There is a link on NBC’s official The Office website called “Where Are They Now?” which will direct you to what each character is doing ever since the documentary aired. Phyllis and Bob Vance (Vance Refrigeration) moved to St. Louis to be reconciled with her daughter after tracking her down, Jan is trying to get Astrid on “Toddlers & Tiaras”, and Michael and Holly are expecting their fourth child in December.
Greg Daniels (The Office show-runner) played Michael’s neighbor in Season 2’s Office Olympics, but his scene was cut. He did, however, appear in Finale, taking a picture with the Dunder Mifflin crew.
Each of the 8 main characters have had their full names revealed throughout the course of the show: Michael Gary Scott, Dwight Kurt Schrute III, Pamela Morgan “Pam” Halpert, James Duncan “Jim” Halpert, Andrew Baines “Andy” Bernard (Originally born Walter Baines Bernard, Jr.), Angela Noelle Martin, and Ryan Bailey Howard.
Most of the flannel ties John Krasinski wears on-set are hand-made.
Nick Offerman (who currently portrays Ron Swanson on NBC’s hit show, Parks and Recreation) originally auditioned for Michael Scott.
Mentioned in various episodes, it was stated that Michael and Phyllis attended high school together. In real life, Phyllis Smith is actually 10-years older than Michael. [Side note: B.J. Novak and John Krasinski went to the same high school together; John even starring in one of B.J.’s plays and Ed Helms and Brian Baumgartner attended the same college.]
There are Facebook profiles from various characters as a way of advertisement beginning from the show’s seventh season. Nowadays, it’s a way for fans to continue to learn about what’s happening with each Dunder Mifflin employee. (Frequent updaters are: Michael, Jim, Pam, Dwight, Andy, and Holly.)
Jim and Pam were almost an interracial love story, with the idea that Pam was African-American.
After filming, Jenna Fischer kept the engagement ring that Jim gave Pam back in Season 5’s Company Picnic. John and Jenna continue to be friends, even going out to lunch. Fans even believe the two are married in real life. However, John is married to British actress, Emily Blunt, and Jenna is married to writer Lee Kirk.
[A/N: I know this one was long (That’s what she said), but I had a lot of information that I just wanted to share!]
