In a time when fashion is constantly evolving and changing it’s face, it can be a little hard to…keep up. It seems like brands are constantly evolving themselves, making silhouettes slimmer, cuts higher and rises lower. Times are changing and if you aren’t changing with them, then you’re out.
One brand that has managed to stay subtly relevant without really changing at all, is Members Only. Right. I know it sounds a little weird, but hear me out.
Members Only hit us back in the 80s and back then, it was only a men’s line with it’s staple being the Iconic Members Only Racer Jacket.
In it’s heyday, Members Only was the EPITOME of cool and Members Only was a status symbol, playing on it’s own name. Behind the scenes, The Members Only house was going through a lot and soon it slightly fell out of the public eye.
In early 2004 (yeah, it fell out of the public for quite a few years), the brand was relaunched, incorporating a women’s line into the game. With a very eager Maureen Regan spearheading this relaunch, The Brand intended on becoming a household name yet again…and it slowly but surely started to happen.
Eight years later, Members Only is still a steady brand which has managed to stay simple and clean throughout the years. Keeping it’s classic racer jacket, the brand has, over time, introduced more jackets, more colors, more cuts…evolving, but still keeping this simple for the people.
I’m personally a huge fan of Members Only, The Iconic Racer Jacket is on my list of things every man should own, without a doubt. It’s great to see a classic brand stand the test of time, without straying from the roots that made it hot in the first place.
