What a misunderstanding!

You must watch this film for the following reasons: 

1. A lot of things you liked about Drive were lifted from this movie
2. Everybody is either corrupt, a walking corpse or both
3. Way better than Lethal Weapon
4. Exquisite photography and camera work because: William Friedkin
5. An entire sequence is a tutorial on how to counterfeit money
6. Crazy car chases and gunplay
7. Willem Dafoe
8. Tits

My only problem is with the cheesy synth-rock soundtrack. This entire movie should have been orchestrated to Guns N’ Roses songs. Other than that it’s impeccable. 

There’s something fascinating about ad hoc architecture, like a child’s tree house or this glass house in Freetown Christiania, Copenhagen. Above is the the Sutyagin house, a structure located in Arkhangelsk, in the far northwest of Russia, began in 1992 by local entrepeneur slash gangster Nikolai Sutyagin. It started as a two-story house and just grew, no plan or building permit in sight. At its height, it reached thirteen stories, reportedly the world’s tallest wooden house. Sutyagin was sent to prison a rich man in 1998 and released dead broke in 2002, after which he has apparently been living in poverty on the lower floors. The tower was recognized as a fire hazard in 2008 and torn down, leaving four stories which burned down a few weeks ago.

A generation of memories, recorded on magnetic tape

Static-y audio and dull palettes that bled,
All fading away on a format that’s dead.

Your life painstakingly recorded so you can remember it always,
On cheap tape that rots on a shelf, and no longer plays.
Temporary technology meant the recordings don’t last
So all of our VHS memories have been left in the past.

As more times passes, your youth becomes harder to recall
And now there’s no proof you had a childhood at all.
