    this will always be one of the funniest things to me hahaha

    Listen close, as life turns its pages
    Makaveli here, kickin’ rhymes for the ages
    Seen things in stages, wise words spoken by sages
    From SkyTel to BlackBerry pages
    Your crew don’t phase us, we’ll make you bustas pay us
    Run up in your spot like CJ from San Andreas

    It was the dopest song I ever wrote… in ‘94

    What can a {nigga} do when half the people voted for George W.
    It’s a bitch, {fuck} George W. — can’t be true —
    I wanna choke him, because he’s a snitch
    I’m talking about George W. Smith
    From city council, he ran in ‘93
    Out in Oakland, you probably didn’t hear about him

    How am I doin’ this?
    Look around the club, see everyone in the place
    Showing ‘Pac love got a smile on my face
    The girl in the miniskirt has bad taste
    Because her shirt don’t match
    And there’s a puddin’ stain on the back
    What the {fuck} is that?
    It might be doo-doo

    And you in the back, you ain’t {shit}
    You bought a gin and tonic but you didn’t even tip
    And if you hit the table one more time then the record might skip
    Might skip… I told you, stop hittin’ the table

    “that i avoid even casual conversation;

    that i avoid you is a valid observation.”

    those are 2 lines from a song that i started writing 8 years ago. the lyrics were done in a few days, but i never found the right chords for the melody that kept on repeating in my head. for that matter, i didn’t even have a complete melody down pat. there was just enough for half a chorus.

    the  other day it suddenly just clicked. i was messing around with the guitar and it happened. “cold shoulder” (working title) is officially the first song i’ve written with prudence. 3 cheers! and another 4 more cheers to the musicianfags i bugged about my progression transition problem. thanks; C, S, M and L.

    in the end it was my main piano man (talented like whoa — listen to him here) who followed through with a 6 chord transition, and a slight adjustment to a pre-existing progression. he even recorded a sound clip for me (hence, this post). extra points awarded for him running on close to empty during all that time. he hadn’t slept. nevertheless, it turned out fantastic and the song wouldn’t be what it is without him.

    can’t wait to record it!

    #000 GOSSAMER WINGS. an old, old written piece, no doubt, (the seed of this song was planted in my heart around the same time i was writing “counting the days”.) but i’m thinking of reviving it. not sure if i’m going to keep the acoustic vibe or look for a beat.

    i’ll record the whole song one day, i promise.

    #008 STAR CROSSED. this is not the final version of this song, let me make that clear now. that being said, this is not exactly a new composition. “star crossed” was my wedding gift to my husband; i composed it years ago, and when we got married (one year ago today, huzzah!) i asked a few close friends to perform this song during the reception.

    still not happy with the way the recording turned out — i’m almost 100% sure that a proper arrangement of this song requires a full band — but since no one has ever heard me sing the full song properly (not even my husband), i figured this would be a nice anniversary surprise. ta-daaah.

    #015 READY OR NOT (THE FUGEES COVER). when i first started accepting requests on tumblr, someone asked me to cover enya’s “boadicea.” sadly, the kawaii ms50 that i found in my parents’ house does not work. we’ve tried plugging it in with a new adaptor; nothing. so, instead of attempting “boadicea,” i decided to try something a little simpler, with the guitar and the melodica.

    i really, really derped all over lauryn hill’s rapping part. her cadence and delivery are unmistakable, and very hard to follow without a lot of practice. goddamn. i did like the melodica part, though. what do you think?

    #021 LOVESONG (THE CURE COVER). it’s impossible to pick a favorite when it comes to songs by the cure. (dat robert smith.)

    this is probably one of their more popular songs (it’s been covered about a gajillion times); i always found it a bit boring to sing, but i had fun this time because of the melodica.
