Jack Andraka (center), a 15-year-old student from Maryland, came up with a paper sensor that detects pancreatic cancer 168 times faster than current tests. It’s also 90% accurate, 400 times more sensitive, and 26,000 times less expensive than today’s methods. In short: It’s a lot better.
Andraka was inspired to focus on pancreatic cancer because a friend’s brother was killed by the disease. “I became interested in early detection, did a ton of research, and came up with this idea,” he says.
This. This just blew me away. My question: why isn’t this on the front page of every newspaper?

when theopteryx proposed this art trade, I’m not gonna lie, I flailed a bit. Seeing how someone else would colour something of mine is always exciting; and I have such a love for the way theopteryx colours (and draws!)
I had an absolute blast colouring her line art [which is here!] but i was completely blown away when she sent this one back to me. The afternoon-glow, peter’s rosy cheeks; she did such an amazing job on what was a monster of a picture. ♥

Art trade! I have been a long-time fan of speep so getting to work with her on a project was the best. This is my lineart with her coloring, and soon she’ll be posting her lineart that I colored. She made this look way cooler than my messy original lines. I seriously had a blast getting to do this and hope I get to do more in the future! Yeah yeah art trade yeah! /o/
