Last night I saw Something Corporate perform at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. It brought me back to my first concert - Warped Tour 2002. I convinced my parents to drive me and my friends down to Asbury Park. My dad ended up staying and hanging out somewhere for the day (I felt bad, but I’m eternally grateful), but he let my 13 year old self run around with my friends and listen to the bands. I don’t think he fully understood what Warped Tour was because if he did he probably wouldn’t have driven us down, haha.

Something Corporate was, if I remember correctly, the first band we saw. “I Woke Up In A Car” was the first song they played. In those 3 minutes, I think I fell in love with live music. There was just something that sparked in me. After that show, I was so passionate about finding new music & bands - Midtown, Taking Back Sunday, All-American Rejects, Rufio, Saves the Day, Reggie & The Full Effect, Motion City Soundtrack, No Use for a Name, Finch and many many more.

Once high school rolled around about 2 years after that I got busy & finding new music was quickly put on the back burner. Since then I’ve definitely gotten into different genres, but last night brought me back.

I’m so glad I got see SoCo for their reunion tour. Ironically, they opened with “I Woke Up In A Car”. It kind of reminded me of why I love music, especially live music, so much and why I spend so much money every year just to see bands/singers I listen to. I had my flip so I took some videos. I didn’t bring my camera because I didn’t bring a purse, but I’m glad I didn’t. Usually I take a lot of pictures at shows but it was good to just be in the moment.
