On Volunteering vs. Meetups
Hello, dears.
I wanted to address a couple items regarding a post I saw today (see below.)
It is unfortunate that not every city 1) has a food bank with enough spots to fill our purpose or 2) is willing to host us. I am very grateful for those that have opened their doors and taken a leap of faith in trusting “the Drunk Kitchen girl.”
In the event that we are unable to find a volunteer center (which has only happened once), we rent out a community space and host a small food drive along with Q&A and photo/cuddle time.
Since, we are only spending 2-3 days in each city, (including shooting Hello, Harto!, shooting MDK, travel time which can be up to 10+ hours of driving, etc.), we are unable to host large-scale public meet-ups due to costs, securing permits, and crowd safety.
As stated in the original campaign videos, I have chosen volunteerism because it allows me to spend quality time with you. Moreover, I feel that it is the best use of the positive and energetic community we have created online. I greatly enjoy taking the gifts that life has given us and paying them forward in this way. Albeit small scale, I do believe we are doing some good.
My goals have been as follows:
1) Volunteer events.
2) My Drunk Kitchen
3) Hello, Harto!
I am very grateful to my crew for putting themselves through this demanding and ambitious endeavor for the sake of watching me hug strangers and create more consistent content.
Above all, I am very grateful to those of you who participated in funding the show, and also to those of you who couldn’t. I sincerely wish I could thank each and every one of you in person and tell you what an impact you’ve had on my life. I share your disappointment in being unable to meet all of you.
Those are my thoughts and feelings. I’ll probably post a non-fiction “Day in the Life of Hello, Harto!” video so you guys can see what the journey of the road is like.
And remember, darlings, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Feel free to chime in below! But please don’t go after someone for sharing theirs.
all my love,
Hannah———
IN RESPONSE TO:
——I’m a real mixed bag right now about this Hello Harto tour.
There were only 100 spots available to volunteer for Minneapolis, 100.
On what planet is it okay to limit such a large Midwestern city to a select, “you’re lucky you saw this first” number of people?
Obviously, when money was donated, there had to be statistics. I seem to recall that there had been a lot MORE than 100 people donating from the Twin Cities area within the first hour of the Kickstarter. It’s completely fucked up to have an exclusive little event when there are many, many people who contributed to this campaign.
As a long-time Hartosexual, I’m quite disappointed that my money looks like it’s just going towards a vacation with little to no connectivity to fans or sponsors.
I mean, Hannah visited both the Mall of America AND Lake Calhoun. Those are perfect spaces for a public meet-up. But what most of us got was a fleeting “thank you” and “your state is pretty”.
I honestly hope that the rest of the Hartosexuals that plan on participating in this tour don’t face the disappointment that I did these past few days.
My faith in this project and in Hannah Hart is crumpled.
I don’t know what to do.

i'm become pretty into calories lately and i think about them a lot. i'm limiting myself to 560 a day. is this the beginning of an ed? :/

You are starving yourself. You can not survive on that many calories. You’re consuming less than your body needs to support itself.
Please, please, please try to eat more today (and tomorrow and the day after that). And confide in someone you trust who can help you see someone about this. You do seem to be in the beginning of an ED, and you are eating less than you can live on. The sooner you get help, the faster you can cut off this problem and start healing.
(You can also call 1-800-931-2237 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm EST to speak with someone from NEDA)

CANADA THUS FAR!
Good morning, my darling kitchenettes!
I’m so sorry for my lack of tweeting and instragramming lately. I know that you must all really miss my thoughts. Such as:
“Why aren’t I eating a biscuit right now?”
and
“I love butter.”
But it’s all for good reason because… I’m in CANADA! And I have no data plan for Canada… and so I have my phone off…basically all of the time.
Either way, here are some ambiguous pictures I haven’t been able to post:
- This is me chugging Emergen-C. Normally, I really don’t like to take that sort of thing but these last couple days have been a bit of a grind (Meet-up, Kitchen, Travel, Meet-up, Kitchen, etc.) Fortunately, I’m in for a little break as we travel to Calgary over the next couple days!

- This is the first Canadian thing that made me laugh:

- This is a spoiler image from tomorrow’s San Francisco episode!

And that’s it for now!
Anyway, volunteering/kitchens have been awesome. I’ve met some really incredible folks. Also, everyone has been so kind and supportive and helpful for roadtrips! We’ve gotten hand sanitizer, Starbucks gift cards, bottles of fancy local liquor, and even some of my personal favorite snack - turkey jerky! I love savory things.
Anyway, thanks so much for everything guys. We are heading into Week 2 and the crew is very happy and full of love.
Oh,
And this is a picture of something cute:
See you soon!Love,
