Tom Waits, David Bowie and Bette Midler
Hi internet friends. Why do we post about the stuff we’re doing at home, then put ourselves down for being at home on a Friday and Saturday night?
Today I slept a lot, drank tea, ate some cheap burritos, re-read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and fixed my laptop which I thought was dead, and felt like a TECHNOLOGICAL WIZARD! I’m backing up stuff on my hard drive and let me tell you, after a few days of no computer, it’s pretty damn exciting. I’m listening to some mixes of a cover band I recorded last week and am feeling proud of myself because it doesn’t sound shitty.
And I guess this is the point where I say something insecure like “woo yeah I party pretty hard on a Saturday night, LOL JK I AM ACTUALLY ASHAMED OF HOW NERDY I AM” but forget that! I’m not ashamed at all. I’m having a great time. I’ve had a busy, stressful week. Lazy home times rock when you’re sleep-deprived and have been running around doing stuff. And since when was I not nerdy anyway? I wouldn’t have fixed my laptop if I was out doing cool person stuff. *
So let’s do it, internet. Let’s stop being insecure and embarrassed about having an awesome time at home. That’s where the internet, books, TV, food and bed is and you don’t generally get hassled for not wearing a bra.
Doing what makes you happy is cool.
*I’m not entirely sure what cool person stuff is and I DON’T CARE
