Things I’ve learned today by visiting the Supernatural forums:
1. People would prefer Edlund was the one leaving the show
a) because he’s focusing too much on the Dean/Cas relationship
b) he makes comments like “long-distance marriage”
2. People think the Purgatory storyline would be good
a) for Sam to get a POV
b) for Sam to be something more than Dean’s younger brother
c) for Sam to finally get his own friends & interact with other people
Allow me to burst your bubble (a.k.a. my humble opinion)
1. Edlund is one of the few writers who actually truly knows his characters and they’re never OOC, his episodes have an intriguing plot that actually makes sense, he can master everything from comedy to angst, in the last two seasons apart from a very few other episodes, the Edlund ones were the only episodes worth something story-wise.
(Apparently, none of it matters because Ben likes Cas, & he likes Dean and Cas’ bond, so he’s automatically in the black list.)
conclusion: don’t care about plot as long as Cas, Cas lovers & Dean/Cas lovers are off the show
2. a) s01: Sam’s struggle with his brother, his father, his life, his school, his girlfriend, revenge s02: Sam has powers, he has demon blood in him, he is Azazel’s chosen, Sam dies. s03: Sam tries to find a way for Dean not to go to Hell, Sam befriends Ruby, Sam struggles with the fact that he will be alone s04: Sam/Ruby, Sam/Lilith, Sam drinking demon blood, Sam’s summer adventures, Sam’s opinions, Sam freeing Lucifer s05: Sam struggling with his guilt about Ruby, Lilith, demon blood, Dean and freeing Lucifer. Sam saying yes, Sam jumping in the pit s06: Sam is back, Sam works with Samuel/Crowley, Sam has no soul, Sam gets his soul back, Sam’s wall breaks, Sam & all the other mind!Sams so7: Sam struggles, Sam & Hallucifer, Sam & the mental hospital, Sam is okay.
conclusion: How is not that Sam’s POV?
b) Sam: college student, friend, boyfriend, hunter, boy with the demon blood & psychic powers, Azazel’s chosen, Lucifer’s true vessel, ex-blood junkie, the boy who saved the world. (and of course brother & son)
How was Dean ever anything else but Sam’s big brother? even him being the righteous man took a second chair to trying to be Sam’s keeper.
conclusion: your argument is invalid
c) I won’t point the fact that pretty much everyone that Dean interacts with Sam does to, nor that he had school friends, college friends or people he met when Dean was in Hell or his year with Samuel & co.
I will simply state that Dean had only one close friend in his whole life: Cas. And the reason that people give for disliking Cas is that he ‘comes between the brothers’. (I would laugh but I’m too pissed off at the moment)
conclusion: Sam is allowed to have friends, Sam’s friends don’t get in the way of his relationship with his brother, Sam’s friends simply won’t be Cas. Apparently that makes it alright.
Question: how is it to have a vast empty space where your brain was supposed to be? (yes I’m being mean, because stupidity annoys me)
p.s. The owner of this blog firmly believes that the show is about family that don’t end with blood (Team Free Will FTW)
