Lees Fried Chicken, Morehead KY
First non-gas stop on the cross country roadtrip: the buffet at Lees. To be clear, I did not go with the buffet because I prefer the chicken strips, which weren’t made available at the all-you-can-eat rate. But Nate went head first into the trays and trays of succulent fried chicken. It was his first trip to Lees and his impression: “my stomach kind of hurts”
You’ve done it again, Lees.
DO YOU KNOW THE MAJESTY THAT IS LEE’S FAMOUS RECIPE CHICKEN?
Well, you do now and in the rare buffet form. Look at that; it’s like a McDLT. Hot side stays hot and cool side stays cool. Word on the street is that it even had fried pickles.

Illustration: Who’s excited for a cross country road trip?
I don’t mean to speak for my driving partner, but I certainly am excited. The to-do list is in the works. So far I’m most excited about setting my eyes on the state of Kentucky. Driving partner says it’s a bad idea to stop at a bar to get to know the local truckers in town. :( I’ll just have to conveniently need to use the bathroom right when we’re strolling by the seediest looking town right outside of Louisville…
Oh yeah, the Grand Canyon will be cool, too. Whatever.
