Beasite Boys - No Sleep Til Brooklyn

The first time I met Adam, I was in High School and the Beastie Boys were playing the MSU Auditorium.  It was a $5 show.  I was on far more hallucinogens than one person has any right to take and flat on my back in the grass outside the venue.  This guy who introduced himself as Ricky Powell told me that he was taking pictures for the band’s photo album and snapped a shot of me chewing air.  He took several photos because he wanted to get both my face and the whole of my t-shirt that read “I Love Chicks With Big Tits”.

Then he asked if I could get them some mushrooms.  I yelled to my friend Jessica, who came running and we were dragged onto the tour bus.  And we sold mushrooms to one of my favorite bands ever.

A few years later, my company was enlisted by Nasty Little Man to help with regional support on a few Beastie Boys tours.  I was thrilled to get to actually work with them.  Even more so when they remembered me as the guy with great shrooms.

Only a few years ago, one of the greatest memories I will ever have was when they agreed to play a short set for my birthday just after Jen and I bought the place in Williamsburg.  The Beasties.  In my house.

    We miss you already, Adam.

    Love.

    One Year Anniversary

MSU Facts is one year old today! I would like to thank all of you for your continued support and for helping me to make this blog what it has become today through your questions, suggestions, and kind words. I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing when I started this blog (except that I was a bored tour guide procrastinating while studying for her finals), but I can certainly say that I have learned more about this university than I ever would have imagined and I hope you have, too.

I’m also celebrating another milestone in my life this weekend…

Don’t worry, though - I have no plans to stop blogging. As John Hannah once said, “Once you accept your diplomas … your status changes and you become a part of Michigan State College forever.  You cannot disown the College, and the College cannot disown you.”

Once again, I would like to thank you, the readers. You are what have kept me going all year. Thanks for sticking with me.

    Go Green!

    Big Ten tournament champs!

This was a great game. It was a lot of fun to watch, but most importantly, my Spartans are conference champs, and they earned a number one seed in the NCAA tournament. I’m so stoked for March Madness.

I don't post photos on here.

    mattbraunger:

    Or on Facebook anymore.

Why? Because they legally own any pictures you post on both this and that site. Twitter too. They can then do whatever they want with them.

Something to keep in mind. Sorry to be a downer.

Anyway, off to eat lunch, get coffee, then drink beers. Happy Saturday!

Not true, actually - but this brings up a good point: You should always know and be aware of what you have agreed to when you sign up for these social media services. With the huge uproar that Facebook & Google’s recent privacy policies have created, companies are getting better about being more transparent, but there’s still a lot of confusion around what you’ve agreed to let these people do with the content you’re sharing over them. So, with the fact that many people who read this blog are awesome content creators, I went through each of the terms of the three companies Braunger mentioned and dug out their view on content:
