Day to Night: conqurering the transition from workday to happy hour with Liz
We’re back this Tuesday with a follow-up post to Liz’s interview from last week, and we’re really excited to share with you some of her favorite looks she’s picked for our Keaton Row readers that will help you transition from the workplace to happy hour. This couldn’t be more timely with Valentine’s Day today and New York Fashion Week parities (including our own on Thursday)!
Knowing how to dress for work and subsequent post-work outings is something that plagues even the most fashionable woman, regardless of office style.
Fortunately, Liz created a really easy-to-follow format and erred on the side of business professional and business casual. Each outfit includes a staple piece (i.e., a dress, skirt or pant) paired with a solid blazer to pull the look together in a more corporate way. Then, Liz added fun jewelry from some of our favorite accessory lines (which we highlight below!) and some sexy shoes.
These looks are so simple to recreate, as Liz breaks down this formula in the easiest way possible: by removing the blazer and adding a statement necklaces, the day-to-night look couldn’t be easier!
If you’re in a more conservative environment, some of these statement necklaces might be too flashy, but thankfully, they are easy to transport in your purse to help transition it all after business hours.

First up is a wonderfully neutral Tibi dress that will work throughout all seasons. By pairing it with an MiH cropped jacket, bright yellow Diane von Furstenberg belt, and ruby red J. Crew heels, you’re set for the office. Transition the look by adding Bauble Bar accessories - included here are their Marie Ice Bib and Bloom Studs! You’ll surely pick up a stud at happy hour with these additions!

Liz specifically put together look two for all you ladies going on a post-work date with your valentine! The red DvF dress and navy Rebecca Taylor blazer pairs nicely with Bauble Bar’s flirty accessories: including their Heart Bangle and Black Bloom studs and bracelet. Top off the look with the striped J. Crew heels and you’re ready for a night out on the town!

For the conservative gal, this look is as traditional as it gets. The Alice + Olivia black shirt dress is classy both with and without the Alice + Olivia blazer. J. Crew’s leopard print heels make for a savvy and sexy addition, and we love the sophisticated Knot Earrings paired with Bauble Bar’s Sienna Necklace.

If pops of color are what you’re currently in to (as this is Liz’s favorite runway trend!), then you’ll love this outfit. Take a brightly colored skirt (like
DvFs sailor blue version here), pair it with a patterned shirt or sweater (like this
one, also from DvF) and pair it with a simple white jacket (try
Theory’s white leather blazer — featured here). For an after-work kick, add these
bright earrings and pair it with
J. Crew’s red pumps.

Maxi skirts and dresses are all the rage right now, so this outfit, which repeats the Theory blazer (we’re smart shoppers at Keaton Row — work with what you have!), starts with a great full-length dress by Lyn Devon. We added J. Crew’s sexy yet comfortable leopard shoes, and then try Bauble Bar’s Chunky Orb Strand for the after-work addition.

Last, but not least, we wanted to include another colorful look for all you women who like to make a statement. And, while it may be Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s day is just around the corner, so the featured emerald-colored Alice + Oliva wide-legged pants are perfecat! We included the previously featured Alice + Olivia blazer and added a fantasticly striped Lyn Devon shirt. J. Crew’s Bubble Necklace that Liz wore in her last post really makes a statement when paired with their peep toe wedges — perfect for springtime dates and happy hours!
We’d love to hear about how you transition your daytime look to nighttime, especially when you quickly head out after work. Do you keep extra jewelry or clothing in your office? Do you try to plan ahead? What works for you? Comment away!
We also hope you’ll join us for our Fashion Week soiree on Thursday — we’d love to meet you and introduce you to our team to learn more about becoming a Keaton Row stylist! See more info here.
