What's a tumblelog?
To make a simple analogy: If blogs are journals,
tumblelogs are scrapbooks.
You can also look at tumblelogs as slightly more
structured blogs that make it easier, faster,
and more fun to post and share stuff you find or
create.

Is Tumblr better/worse than Blogger, TypePad,
FaceBook, etc.?
It's totally different. That's why we built it,
and why we love it so much.
Blogs are great, but they can be a lot of work.
And they're really built to handle longer-form
text posts. Tumblelogs, on the other hand, let
you easily and quickly post and share anything
you find or create.
-
What's it cost?
Tumblr is free, and we're keeping it that way.
In the future, we may offer additional "advanced"
features for a fee. But basic service will always
be available 100% free and feature-packed.

What are "Groups"?
A Group is a tumblelog with the special ability
to invite others to post. Groups can be public or
private.
Private groups are the perfect way to share things
with a group of people. Just name your group, and
invite friends, family, or colleagues to join.
Once they join, they can invite people too.
Public groups are full-featured tumblelogs with the
ability to invite others to post. Once invited, members
share full control.

What are "Followers"?

How reliable is Tumblr?
Tumblr is our pride-and-joy, and we work diligently
to make sure service is stable and reliable.
However, it's impossible for us to guarantee total
reliability. If you

How do feeds work?
When a new feed is added to Tumblr, its most recent post
will be imported, followed by any posts added from
that point forward.
The time between updates can vary greatly depending on the
service. We try to crawl feeds once every hour, but we do
respect each feed's "Time To Live" (TTL) declaration which
may affect the update interval.
